Chargers Wrestlers Nab Two Titles at Riverside Invite; Team Finishes Ninth

The ACGC wrestlers traveled to Oakland yesterday for the Riverside Invitational and finished ninth out of fourteen teams. Two Chargers were crowned champions with freshman Seth Danker claiming the 106 lb. title for his first tournament championship and junior Easton Benson taking the 126 lb. crown. After drawing a bye in the quarterfinals, Danker pushed his season record to 10-1 with a pin in the semis and a 10-1 decision in the championship match. Benson recorded consecutive falls in the quarterfinals and semis before claiming a 7-3 decision in the title match. The sweep by Benson improved his season record to 10-1.

Others wrestling for the gold and black included Blaine Beeler at 120, Zach Fees at 132, and Ben Kingery at 195. Beeler and Fees both took runner-up honors , while Kingery's place was unknown according to meet information. After drawing a first round bye, Beeler won his quarterfinal match by fall and his semifinal match by an 8-6 decision before losing his title match by pin. Beeler's loss was his first of the season and gives him a10-1 record. Fees pinned his first two opponents to reach the championship before losing by fall, giving him an 8-3 mark on the year. Kingery went 1-2 on the day, losing by fall in the quarterfinals, winning by fall in the consolation round, and losing a 7-5 decision in his final consolation match. Kingery finished the day at 6-6 on the season.

The team will travel to Ogden this Thursday, Dec. 14 for the Ogden Duals and will host the WCAC Tournament on Saturday, Dec. 16.

Championship: Colton Kinen (Papillion-La Vista South) won over Beeler by fall 5:36

Quarterfinals: Benson won over Ethan Becker (Riverside) by fall 1:30

Semifinals: Benson won over Andrew Murray (Papillion-La Vista South) by fall 3:34

Championship: Benson won over Jaeden Rassmussen (AHSTW) by dec. 7-3

Quarterfinals: Fees won over Ben Ehlers (AHSTW) by fall 5:56

Semifinals: Fees won over Ryan Guy (Woodbine) by fall 0:52

Championship: Wyatt Crocker (Lo-Ma) won over Fees by fall 0:31

195 lb. Ben Kingery According to meet information, Kingery's placing was unknown
