Charger Thinclads Find Cool Temps and Stiff Competition at Audubon Relays

On an evening that started out mild but became cool and windy as time went on, the Charger track teams met some stiff competition from western Iowa teams they had not seen before. Treynor, IKM-Manning and Underwood all bested the Chargers last night in both girls' and boys' meets. The Chargers finished fifth in the girls' meet with 59 points and sixth in the boys' meet with 65 points. Panorama won the girls' meet, while Underwood was the victor in the boys' meet.

For the first time this season, neither ACGC team was able to garner a first place finish for the meet, albeit coaches Shawgo and Mosbach changed some things up and did not necessarily place their charges in their normal events. Several Chargers came home with second place finishes, including long jumpers Caden Wardyn and Sara Schmeling who leapt 20'3.5" and 16'1" respectively. Noah Nelson took second in the 3200 meter run in 19:12.63. Dylan Soper won the silver in the 100 meter dash in a time of 11.56, as did Lauryn Embleton in the 1500 meter run with a time of 5:31.28. Clay Billheimer's time of 4:44.15 was good for second place in the 1600 meter run.

Next up for ACGC is the Charger Invitational on Thursday on the local Gonzales-Parish Track with the first event to begin at 4:30.
