Charger Boys' Golf Team Competes at WCAC Meet; Kading Finishes Eighteenth
Eli Kading carded a 94 on the tough Lake Panorama Golf Course to lead the ACGC boys' golf team at the WCAC meet yesterday, while the Charger team finished last in the nine team meet with a score of 429. Des Moines Christian won the event with an impressive team score of 321, as the Lions produced not only the individual medalist (Drew Shisler, 73), but two runners up medalists in Nate Juffer and Weiseenburger (both at 80) as well.
Besides Kading, other Charger scores were Spencer Grove with a 102, Noah Wheatley with a 116, McKlain Jorgenson at 117, Seth Danker with a 119, and Austin Hall at 173.
Despite the last place finish, coach Lori McGivney saw progress for her linksters. "We are getting closer to the competition," McGivney commented. "Excluding a few poor holes we are playing much better golf. Our drives are longer and our chips and putts are more accurate. We still have much to learn about course management and club selection, but the boys are definitely headed in the right direction, I'm proud of how much they've improved and how hard they are willing to work."
Next up is the sectional tournament hosted by West Central Valley on Friday at the 5x80 Golf Course, with tee off scheduled for 10 AM.
