Charger Softball Tops W-G, 12-7; Run Season Mark to 3-0

The ACGC softball team improved its early season record to three wins and no losses with 12-7 win over the Woodward-Granger Hawks in a game played at Woodward last night.

The Chargers jumped to an early 3-0 lead after the first frame only to see the Hawks knot the score in the bottom of the second inning. ACGC picked up four more runs in its fourth at bat to take what seemed a safe 7-3 lead, but the Hawks came back to score two in the fifth to make it 7-5. A big sixth inning win which the Chargers scored six runs on five hits and three W-G errors put the game away for the local girls.

The bats were booming once again for the Chargers, as they managed thirteen hits including three doubles. Maddi Kelsey led the way with three hits, while Savana Fuller, Genevieve "G" Hoover, Makayla Hoing, and Kylie Young each picked up two. "G", Jayden Carrick, and Jorja Hoover each had a double, accounting for the team's extra base hits.

Fuller went the distance in the circle to run her record to 2-0. She gave up seven runs on thirteen hits, while walking two and fanning seven. She was aided by a stout Charger defense that did not commit an error.

The win gives the team a 2-0 mark in WCAC play, with one conference opponent scheduled for next week. The Chargers will host non-conference opponent West Harrison next Tuesday at 7 PM, and then Madrid in a conference double header on Wednesday beginning at 5:30.
