Charger Softball Team Dominates Ex-EHK, 12-3

The ACGC softball team stepped out of conference play on Saturday to host Exira-Elkhorn-Kimballton of the Rolling Valley Conference and came away with a 12-3 win.

The Chargers scored in every inning except the second, as they plated two runs in the first inning when Savana Fuller and Sierra O'Brien reach safely via a walk and an error, followed by sacrifice flies by Mady Kelsey and Genevieve "G" Hoover. After the scoreless second inning, the Chargers scored two more runs in the third when O'Brien and Kelsey got on base by a fielder's choice and a base hit respectively, and scored on "G"'s sacrifice fly and a Spartan error.

Kylie Young scored in the fourth inning as a result of three more errors by the Spartans to make the score 5-0. Kelsey and "G" both scored in the fifth on three additional Ex-EHK errors to give the Chargers a 7-0 lead.

Ex-EHK narrowed the gap to 7-3 in the sixth inning when Sophia Peppers hit a three run home run. Not to be out done, the Chargers responded with a five spot in the sixth to make the score 12-3. Young, Reese Coffman, and Fuller all walked to start the inning, followed by four consecutive singles by O'Brien, Kelsey, "G", and Makayla Hoing to put the game out of reach.

The Chargers had seven base hits (all singles)for the game, and were aided by a total of ten Spartan errors. Kelsey and Jayden Carrick each had two hits to pace ACGC at the plate.
