Panorama Has Big Inning; Defeats Charger Softball Team, 17-7

The ACGC softball team saw a 5-4 advantage heading into the sixth inning quickly become a 17-5 disadvantage, as Panorama scored thirteen runs in its sixth inning at bat and went on to claim a 17-7 win over the Chargers.

The Chargers opened the game with a five run first inning, and knocked out the starting Panther pitcher in the process. Panorama chipped away at the Charger lead and closed the gap to that 5-4 score headed into the sixth inning. After the thirteen run Panther deluge, the Chargers managed to score two runs in the bottom of the sixth, but the game was called by the ten run rule at 17-7.

Coach Tim O'Brien offered these comments after the game. "We played well for five innings, and then our pitching and defense struggled. We just have to keep working hard to put a full seven inning game together."

The Chargers managed ten hits off Panther pitching, with five players each having two hits. Sierra O'Brien, Mady Kelsey, Genevieve Hoover, Jorja Hoover, and Kylie Young all managed two hits, with Young getting the only extra base hit--a double.

Charger pitchers Savana Fuller and Jorja Hoover both saw action. Fuller went five and two thirds inning, giving up nine runs on thirteen hits , while striking out three and walking three. Hoover pitched two thirds of an inning and surrendered eight runs on three hits and did not walk or strike out any Panther batters. Nine of the seventeen Panorama runs were unearned, as the Chargers committed six errors for the game.

The loss puts the ACGC record at 5-7 on the season and 3-6 in conference play. The Chargers will play CRB tonight (Thursday) in a non-conference tilt, with a JV game to begin at 5:30 and the varsity game to follow.
