Fuller Tosses One Hitter; Chargers Advance to Tourney Final, 6-0

Charger junior pitcher Savana Fuller threw a one hitter at West Harrison yesterday as the ACGC softball tam advanced to the finals of its own tournament. The Hawkeyes' only base hit came in the fourth inning. The shutout was the first of the season for the Chargers.

ACGC broke open a scoreless game in the fourth inning when it tallied three runs with two outs. Sierra O'Brien started the rally with a single, followed by MaKayla Hoing reaching safely on a fielders choice. After Jayden Carrick walked to load the bases, Reese Coffman came through with an RBI single to make the score 1-0. After Savana Fuler walked to drive in a second run, Jorja Hoover singled up the middle to drive in the third Charger run of the inning.

The Chargers tallied three more runs in the fifth inning to break the game open. After Genevieve Hoover was hit by pitch and O'Brien walked, Carrick singled to drive in a run. Reese Coffman then drove in two more runs with a single to center field to make the score 6-0. The game was called after six innings due to the hour and a half time limit.

ACGC had eight hits for the game, with Jorja Hoover and Coffman each having two. Fuller was masterful in the circle, and was aided by a defense that played errorless ball. In addition to giving up just one hit, Fuller struck out six Hawkeye batters and walked two.

The win enabled the Chargers to advance to the tourney final to face Underwood.
