Charger Boys Drop Twin Bill at Ogden, 7-5 and 11-0

The ACGC baseball team continues to look for that elusive second win of the season after falling to Ogden Tuesday night in a double header at Ogden by 7-5 and 11-0 scores.

The Chargers were competitive in the first game as the team had one of its best hitting performances of the season. With five players having at lead two hits, the team had a total of thirteen hits in the opener.

After falling behind 3-0 through three innings, the Chargers scored one run in the fourth inning and four in the fifth inning to close the deficit to 6-5. While continuing to hit well, the locals were unable to plate any more runs and lost the two run decision to the Bulldogs.

Caden Wardyn let the hitting with three hits, while Garrett Walhvd, Owen Hansen, Nathan Schiller, and Quenton Spack each had two. Spack had the only extra base hit, a double in the fifth inning which drove in two runs. Ben Kingery and Logan Brincks chipped in with one hit each.

Wardyn started on the mound for ACGC and was relieved in the fourth inning by Brincks. As a duo they surrendered ten hits, walked a total of six batters, and struck out a season high of eleven opponents.

The nightcap was considerably different as the Charger bats went silent, except for a lone single by pinch hitter Noah Nelson. A big third inning for Ogden in which it scored eight runs put the game out of reach for the Chargers. Bryce Littler, Mike Ure, Eli Kading, and Colby Morehouse shared the pitching duties, giving up a total of nine hits, while walking seven and striking out four Bulldogs.

The team continues with doubleheaders for this week, as it travels to Des Moines Christian for a pair of games today (Thursday) beginning at 3:15. Saturday the Chargers host Woodward Academy for two games beginning at 3 PM.
