Charger BB Wins Regular Season Finale, 9-1; District Playoffs Tonight at Mo. Valley

The ACGC baseball team closed out its regular season last night with a 9-1 win over Orient-Macksburg and heads for Missouri Valley tonight for a first round district game with Mo. Valley scheduled for 7PM. West Central Valley and Logan-Magnolia will play a preliminary game at 5 PM.

The Chargers opened the scoring in the home half of the second inning when Owen Hansen singled and reached third base when Bryce Littler got on by an error. Hansen scored on a sacrifice fly by Nathan Schiller and Littler scored on a passed ball to give ACGC a 2-0 lead.

The lead reached 5-0 in the third inning When Garrett Walhovd reached safely on an error, Quenton Spack singled, and both were driven in on a Ben Kingery triple. Kingery in turn crossed home plate when Hansen grounded out to the shortstop.

After a scoreless fourth inning, the Bulldogs got on the board in the fifth when Treyg Webb walked, stole second and third base and scored on a Charger error. The lone run would be the last of the scoring for O-M.

The Chargers added three runs in the fifth on consecutive hits by Spack and Hansen and four consecutive walks given up by Bulldog pitching. A final Charger run was tallied in the sixth inning when Kingery was issued a base on balls, stole second and advanced to third on a wild pitch, after which Hansen drove in Kingery with a base hit.

ACGC had six hits for the game with Hansen accounting for three and Spack for two. Kingery's triple and Hansen's double were the only extra base hits. Bryce Littler had a solid performance on the mound, giving up just two hits, while walking four and striking out six in 6 2/3 innings. Eli Kading pitched the final out of the game.

With the win the Chargers have won three out of their last four games, and are playing with added confidence at the right time. Go Chargers!
