Charger VB Pummels Pleasantville; Complete Regular Season With 20 Wins

This observer has believed for some time that a winning percentage of 67% reaches the threshold of a very good season, no matter the sport. Last night the Charger volleyball team guaranteed itself a winning percentage of 67% when it soundly defeated Pleasantville, 3-0.

The victory improved the record to 20 wins and 9 losses for the regular season, with regional tournament play lying ahead.

ACGC was never really challenged by the Trojans, as revealed by the set scores of 25-12, 25-15, and 25-9. The Chargers' kill efficiency on the night was a very good .468, with Chloe Largent leading the way with 15 kills in 23 attempts for an efficiency rating of .609. Largent also led the team in digs with 8, followed closely by Olivia Laabs with 6. Laabs was outstanding from the service line, as she was successful on 25 of 26 serves, including 11 aces for the night! The play at the net was outstanding as well, as the team came up with 20 blocks. Savana Fuller was exceptional with a total of 10 blocks, while Audrey Stowe had 5. Stowe also led the team in assists with 30.

With the regular season complete, the Chargers finished tied for third in the WCAC with Panorama, both with a 7-3 league mark. Des Moines Christian won the title with a perfect 10-0 conference record.

The Chargers are in Region 4 of the post season Regional Tournament that begins next Tuesday, October 16. ACGC drew a bye in the first round and will host a quarterfinal (second round) match on Monday, October 22 at 7 PM. The Chargers will play the winner of a first round match between Ogden and Madrid.
