Glidden-Ralston Hot, Charger Girls Not (From Long Distance); Drop 57-45 Decision

The three ball was good to the Glidden-Ralston girl's basketball team last night, as the Wildcats converted on 11 of 17 attempts in its 57-45 win over ACGC. The Wildcats scored nearly 60% of their points from beyond the arc. On the other hand, the Chargers made only 3 of 19 attempts from three point territory. That pretty much sums up the story of the game, as those numbers mean ACGC was outscored 33-9 in three point scoring. Tough to make that up with two point baskets.

Despite the poor long range shooting, the Chargers were in the game throughout, taking a brief lead in the second quarter before falling behind at the halftime break, 29-25. The Wildcats slowly pulled away in the second half, increasing the lead by four to make it 44-36 after the third frame. The Chargers managed to cut their turnovers to fourteen for the game, but those fourteen TO's resulted in sixteen Wildcat points.

The Charger scoring was led by Jadeyn Carrick who was 6 of 11 from the floor and 4 of 4 from the line to total 16 points. Savana Fuller tallied eight points and led the team in steals with 4. Kennedy Young led in rebounds with 8, with Fuller grabbing 7. Jorja Hoover dished out 5 assists, with Kennedy Young having 4. The overall shooting success was 29%, with 17 makes out of 58 two point attempts to go along with the 3 of 19 three pointers. Free throw shooting was respectable, with 7 makes out of 10 attempts.

Two Chargers are out with knee injuries, as Cloe Largent and Taylor Lemke await MRIs to determine the extent of their injuries.

Coach Baker had these comments following the game. "We were better at dealing with their pressure and we handled the ball with greater movement."

The loss drops the season record to 4-3 (2-1, WCAC). With no time to lick their wounds, the Chargers are back in action tonight with a 6 PM contest with Panorama. The boys' game will follow.
