Danker, Beeler Win Silver at WCAC Meet; Chargers Grapplers Finish Fifth as a Team

Every ACGC wrestler scored points for his team Saturday at the WCAC meet held in Ogden, as the Chargers finished fifth in the eight team meet with 123.5 points. Seth Danker at 113 lb. and Blaine Beeler at 120 lb. earned the highest place finishes for the Chargers, with both finishing as runner up in their respective weight classes. Four Chargers took third place including Cale Rowley at 126 lb, Gunnar Larsen at 132 lb, Gabe Rowley at 145 lb., and Ben Kingery at 195 lb.

After Danker received a bye in the quarterfinals he won by decision in the semifinals over Aidan Honkomp of Woodward-Granger, 7-1. In the championship match Danker lost by decision, 6-3, to Reuben Smith of I-35. It was only Dankers's second loss of the season, with his record now standing at 10 wins and 2 losses.

All of Beeler's matches were determined by pin, as he went 2-1 on the day. In the quarterfinal he threw Jackson Dodson of Plasantville in 0:51and then pinned Zane Dodson of VM-Earlham in the semifinals in 4:53. In the title match Casey Baker of Interstate 35 won by fall over Beeler in 2:42, which gives Beeler a 13-5 record for the season.

Van Meter-Earlham claimed the team championship with 222 points while WCAC newcomer Interstate 35 finished second with 179 points.

Next competition for the Chargers will be this Thursday when the team travels to Van Meter for a triple dual event including teams from East Union, Woodward Granger, and host Van Meter -Earlham. The Chargers will look to improve on their 7-1 record in dual meets. First matches are scheduled for 6 PM.
