The Charger wrestling team faced some of its toughest competition of the season yesterday in the John Harris Invitational at Corning and spoke well for itself as it finished in fifth place with 120 points. Among the seventeen teams competing, five were 2A schools including champion Atlantic and fourth place finisher Creston-OM.

Three Chargers finished as runners-up including Blaine Beeler at 120 lb, Gunnar larsen at 132 and Ben Kingery at 195. Easton Benson at 138 and Gabe Rowley at 145 both claimed the bronze for ACGC.

Several Chargers passed victory milestones, as Blaine Beeler picked up three wins to run his win total to 31 and Ben Kingery also won three matches to give him 30 wins. Three Chargers reached twenty wins on the season, with Cale Rowley now sitting at 20-15, Easton Benson at 22-9 and Gage Buttler at 20-18.

Gunnar Larsen recored the fastest pin among ACGC wrestlers when he threw Caelen Devault of Nodaway Valley in 1:28.

Next up is the Charger Invitational on Saturday when wrestlers from twenty two schools will descend on Guthrie Center for the final regular season tournament before the sectionals on February 2. Go Chargers!
