Beeler Finishes Sixth, Benson Eighth at State Wrestling

Charger wrestlers Blaine Beeler and Easton Benson completed their run at the state wrestling tournament today, as Beeler finished sixth and Benson eighth in their respective weight classes.

Beeler came into today with a chance to finish as high as third, but lost both of his bouts today and had to settle for sixth--no small feat by itself. Beeler, who wrestles at 120 lb, dropped a 5-0 decision to Trey Lashbrook of Ackley-Geneva/Wellsburg-Steamboat Rock in the consolation semifinals and then was pinned by Jacob Moore of Denver in 1:12 in the match for fifth place.

Benson, the Charger 138 pounder, lost to Caiden Jones of Lake Mills in a 10-4 decision and then was defeated by Lawson Losee of Riceville by a technical fall, 18-3.

Gunnar Larsen also qualified for the meet and won one match and dropped two before being eliminated in the 132 lb weight class.

Of the seventy nine teams represented at the meet, the Chargers managed to finish fortieth in the team scoring with fourteen points.
