Beeler Reaches Consolation Semis; Benson Goes for Seventh Place


As the 2019 version of the state wrestling tournament winds down, two Charger wrestlers are still competing for places at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines. Blaine Beeler and Easton Benson will finish their careers for ACGC today as Benson will wrestle for seventh place and Beeler is in contention for a third place finish.

In last night's action 120 pounder Beeler won over Cauy Fitch of Colfax -Mingo by a 9-4 decision to advance to the consolation semifinals. If he defeats Trey Lashbrook of Ackley-Geneva/Wellsburg-Steamboat Rock today he will advance to the consolation finals and will compete for a third place finish.

Easton Benson at 138 lb. lost his consolation quarterfinal match last night to Caiden Jones of Lake Mills by decision, 10-4. His opponent in the match for seventh place is Lawson Losee of Riceville.

The final consolation matches of the tournament will begin as this piece is being finished (10 AM), with 3A grapplers going first, followed by 1A and 2A competitors.
