ACGC Boys Track Team Finishes Second at Perry; Younker Sets School Record in Shot Put

The ACGC boys track team turned in a good performance at the Perry Invitational yesterday when they finished second with 118 points in the six team meet. The Chargers came away with six first place finishes, two second places, and four third places.

Leading the charge in individual events was Quynton Younker in the shot put when he uncorked a 44'10" put to set an ACGC school record. Dylan Soper won the 100 meter dash in 11.93, Clay Billheimer finished first in the 1600 meter run with a time of 4:51.72, and Noah Nelson captured the top prize in the 3200 meters in 5:05.16.

Two relay teams placed first for the Chargers, with the 800 meter relay (Austin Wierick, Gabe Rowley, Dylan Soper, and Charlie Crawford) running the event in 1:39.71. The distance medley consisting of Cayden Jensen, Gabe Rowley, Clay Billheimer, and Noah Nelson won that event in 3:54.36.

"Having a full squad put the guys in a position to score," first year coach Cody Matthewson offered following the meet. "The young guys really stepped up, including Charlie Crawford, Jayden Jensen, and Jacob Fox. The throwers saw an improvement in their distances, with "Q" setting a new school record and Sam Madsen improving his shot put distance by four feet!"

The next action is a coed meet at Panorama next Tuesday, April 2.
