Charger Boys' Golf Finishes Second at W-G Triangular; Kena Baier Runner-Up Medalist for Girls
The ACGC girls' and boys' golfers got their seasons underway yesterday when they traveled to the Woodward Golf and Country Club for a conference triangular with host Woodward-Granger and Ogden. The boys' finished second in their meet, while Kena Baier narrowly missed capturing medalist honors in the girls' meet.
"Very pleased with our golfers performance last night for our opening appearance," coach Lori McGivney offered following the meet. "Kena Baier earned runner-up medalist with a 50. Had her last put not lipped out of the cup she would have tied for top honors.
"The boys put together a nice team score to beat Woodward-Granger and receive second place at the first conference triangular. The boys seemed excited to be competitive and with some technical work I see a lot of potential."
Ogden took the boys meet with a score of 168, with the Chargers finishing second with a 208 score and Woodward-Granger coming in third with a 214. Gummer Larsen paced the Charger scoring with a 47, with Spencer Grove close behind at 49.
With only two girls on the Charger squad, the ACGC girls did not have a full squad and so did not figure in the team score. In addition to Baier, Jessica Stringer turned in a score of 76. Ogden edged out Woodward-Granger 241-243 for the team title.
Charger boys' scores were as follows:
Gunnar Larsen 47
Spencer Grove 49
McKlain Jorgensen 53
Nolan Wheatley 59
Cael Hoing 63
Eli Kading 65
