Crawford Breaks Meet, Stadium Records at Earlham! Boys Finish Second, Girls Third

As I sit by the pool near our condo in Florida enjoying the sunny 80 degree weather, I couldn't help but be impressed as I read the results of yesterday's performance by Kate Crawford. Crawford turned in not one, but two sterling performances yesterday at the Earlham Invitational when she shattered records in both the 1500 and 3000 meter runs. The Charger junior broke both the stadium and meet records when she turned in a time of 10:41.97 in the 3000 meter run and also set the meet record in the 1500 with a time of 5:09.16. With the weather having warmed up since the beginning of the season, Crawford's times have really taken off!

Both teams fared well with the boys' finishing second to Des Moines Christian and the girls claiming third place behind Harlan and Panorama. The boys picked up three individual firsts, with Quentin Younker winning the shot put competition with a put of 42'5"; Dylan Soper taking the 200 meters with a time of :24.39; and Noah Nelson claiming the 3200 in 10:01.35. In addition to Crawford's golds, Madison McDermott won the shot put for the girls with a distance of 36'9.5".

The Charger boys will take the rest of the week off, while the girls will get their first chance to compete at the home facility when they will host a fourteen team meet this Thursday. First events are scheduled for 5 PM. Go Chargers!

Time to head for the beach!
