Charger Golfers Compete at Panorama, Earlham

The Charger golf teams find themselves in the midst of a busy week, with three girls' events and a single boys' event on the schedule.

The week started off with a five team girls' meet at Panorama on Monday. Teams from host Panorama, Des Moines Christian, Earlham, Woodward-Granger, and ACGC played the tough Panorama course. Des Moines Christian edged Panorama 255 to 257 for the team title. Woodward-Granger was not far behind with 263, with Earlham and ACGC carding 287 and 297 respectively.

Kena Baier and Jessica Stringer paced ACGC with 66's while Alyssa Byers had a 75 and Morgan Lemke a 90. The scores by Baier and Stringer enabled them to finish in a tie for seventh place among the twenty five girls who competed.

Yesterday both the girls and boys traveled to the Sugar Creek golf course for a triangular meet hosted by Earlham. The Charger girls managed a second place finish, as its score of 220 topped Earlham's 241. Des Moines Christian again took honors with a 212. Kena Baier once again led the Chargers with a 51, good for a third place tie among the fourteen girl golfers. Morgan Lemke's 53 placed her in fifth place. Alyssa Byers and Jessica Stringer each carded 58s for ACGC.

In the boys' meet, ACGC finished third with a score of 198, while DMC finished first with a 138 and Earlham was second with a 182. Nolan Wheatley was the Chargers' top golfer with a 45, followed by Spencer Grove who shot a 49. Eli Kading and Seth Danker each shot a 52, while McKlain Jorgensen came in with a 53 followed by Cael Hoing with a 58.

The Charger girls will complete a busy week tomorrow (Thursday) when they travel to Woodward for a meet that is scheduled to begin at 1 PM according to the ACGC school website.
