Charger Track Teams Face Stiff Competition at Audubon; Boys Finish Fourth, Girls Sixth

Boys' track teams from the Western Iowa Conference claimed the top three spots at the Wheeler Relays held in Audubon yesterday, while the Chargers finished fourth in the twelve team meet. Underwood, Treynor, and IKM-Manning all finished ahead of the local cindermen in the highly competitive meet.

Charger Noah Nelson continued his mastery in the long distance events, as he won both the 1600 and 3200 meter runs, with times of 4:43.80 and 9:59.82 respectively. Each of Nelson's times were less than one second off his season bests. Nelson's two golds were the only first place finishes by the Charger team. Senior sprinter Dylan Soper won two silvers when he finished second in both the 100 and 200 meter dashes with times of 11.72 and 24.30.

The Charger girls found the competition equally as keen, finishing with its lowest point total of the season at 48 which placed ACG in sixth place among the ten girls' teams at the meet. Panorama continued its season long dominance, as it captured the title with 152 points.

Kate Crawford took home the only gold for the Chargers, as she won the 800 meters in a time of 2:29.82. Crawford's time marks the first time she has gone under 2:30 and gives her the best time run by WCAC competitors this spring.

The girls picked up two second place finishes, as Madison McDermott threw the discus 108'8" and the 3200 relay made up of Audrey Stowe, Lauryn Embleton, Rylee Sloss, and Crawford ran the oval in 10:33.28.

The teams will have an opportunity to compete at home tomorrow (Thursday), when they host seven other schools in a co-ed meet beginning at 5 PM.
