Girl Linksters Finish Third at W-G; Illness Strikes for WCAC Tournament

The ACGC girls' golf team played what was arguably their best match last Friday when they finished in a tie for third at the eight team Woodward-Granger Invitational. The Chargers totaled 445 strokes which placed them in the tie with Ogden. Adel-DeSoto-Minburn won the event with a low score of 428, while Ballard finished as runner-up with 435.

The Chargers' Kena Baier shot a 104, enabling her to finish in seventh place among the forty two individuals who played the Woodward course. Others golfing for the Chargers were Alyssa Byers who shot a 109, Jessica Stringer at 111, Morgan Lemke at 121, and Anna Klingenberg who shot a 131. Cierra DeHoet of Woodward-Granger was the medalist at 90 strokes.

Coach Lori McGivney expressed her appreciation for the girls' effort when she said, "The girls put together some nice scores to tie for third at Woodward. The girls endured ran and cold and then enjoyed sunshine while putting in eighteen holes against very good competition."

On Monday the Charger girls participated in the WCAC meet held at Pleasantville. Unfortunately, illness hit the Chargers and they were unable to field a full team. Only three girls were able to play including Baier, Byers, and Lemke. Baier again led the Chargers with a 114, followed by Lemke with a 126 and Byers with a 127.
