Charger Girls Place Third at Nevada Relays; Crawford, McDermott, 3200 Relay Win Gold


In their final tuneup for the state qualifier on Thursday, the Charger girls' track team journeyed to Nevada for the Nevada Invitational yesterday and came home with a third place finish. Boone won the meet with 145 points, followed by Nevada with 135 and the Chargers with 104 in the eight team meet.

Kate Crawford continued her dominance in the distance races, as she won the 800 meters in 2:32.02 and the 1500 in 5:14.84. Madison McDermott was the other individual gold medal winner for ACGC as she won the discus with a throw of 108'10". The Charger 3200 relay team of Rylee Sloss, Lauryn Embleton, Audrey Stowe, and Crawford was the only relay team to finish first. The foursome bested the field with a time of 10:30.87.

Savana Fuller and Rylee Sloss each collected silver medals in their respective specialties. Fuller was the runner-up in the 100 meters in a time of 13.61, while Sloss continued her late season improvement when she took the silver in the 1500 meters in 5:33.63.

The state qualifier will be this Thursday, May 9 at Panorama. Field events are scheduled to begin at 4 PM.
