Charger Boy Golfers Finish in Fifth Place @ District Meet
The ACGC boys' golf team made a respectable showing in the district tournament held at the Lake Panorama National Course last Friday, as the Chargers finished fifth out of the eight teams participating. The Chargers' 401 team total bested AHSTW's 413, West Central Valley's 490 and Nodaway Valley's 634. Carroll Kuemper won the event with a 339, edging out Panorama's 344 score.
Eli Kading recorded the best ACGC score as he played the course in 95 strokes. Seth Danker shot 100, while McKlain Jorgenson and Gunnar Larsen each totaled 103. Also playing for the Chargers were Spencer Grove and Nolan Wheatley who shot 108 and 121 respectively. Corbin Borelli of Kuemper was medalist, shooting a 78 on the par 72 course.
Coach Lori McGivney was pleased with her team's performance. "I am very proud of the improvements my players have made this season. Fifth place in this sectional was very respectable. We took steps in the right direction and the boys feel optimistic about the future. It is going to require practice over the summer and keeping focus on technique."
