Charger Baseball Falls to Panorama, 12-1

Once again the ACGC baseball team was beaten by the mercy rule when neighbor Panorama came to town to complete a game that was washed out on June 3 and went home with a 12-1 win in five innings. The Chargers continue to struggle at the plate and on the mound, resulting in numerous shortened games. The Charger defense has been respectable, including last night when only one error was committed.

The Panthers got off to a fast start as they scored five runs in their first at bat. Aided by four walks, the visitors totaled three singles in the inning to pretty much settle the outcome.

They added a run in the second inning and two more in the third to lead by an 8-0 score.

ACGC got on the board in the third inning when Avery Wheatley singled and Ben Kingery got a fortunate hop on a grounder to the second baseman to put runners on first and second. Charlie Crawford and Reid Rumelhart followed up with base hits to score Wheatley. The Chargers stranded three runners in the inning. Eight Charger runners were stranded throughout the game. Panorama added a single run in the fourth and three more in the fifth to close out the game. The fleet of foot visitors totaled eleven stolen bases.

The Chargers had seven hits on the day, with Crawford getting two of the total and one each going to Wheatley, Kingery, Rumelhart, Bryce Littler, and Miles Kading. Clayton Warden, Brock Littler, and Cayden Jensen shared duties on the mound. Warden was charged with the loss, with Littler pitching the second and two outs of the third inning, and Jensen pitching the final third of an inning. Their stats are listed below the box score.

The Chargers will have the weekend off before facing Woodward-Granger on the Charger home field on Monday. A JV game will begin at 5 PM followed by the varsity tilt. Go Chargers!
