ACGC Boys Second, Girls Fourth at WCAC CC Meet

The ACGC cross country teams made a strong showing at the WCAC meet held at the Lake Panorama par three golf course yesterday. The Charger girls managed a fourth place finish among the nine schools fielding teams, while the boys finished second behind Des Moines Christian. Van Meter won the girls' meet.

The youthful girls' team was paced by freshman Ava Campbell who made a strong showing with a third place finish in a time of 21:12 over the 5K course. Sophomore Hayden Coffman was the second Charger runner as she finished thirteenth with a time of 22:01. Others accounting for the ACGC point total of 93 were freshman Adalyn Benson (20th, 22:27), sophomore Katelyn Schafer (27th, 22:32), and freshman Paige Van Meter (30th, 23:48).

Junior Kiersten Knobbe (32nd, 24:07) and freshman Jayla Hoover (33rd, 24:33) were also among the top seven Charger runners who could figure in the team score--top five runners are included in team scores. Also running were Emmarae Ellis (25:48) and senior Mia Ocheltree (27:07).

Following the girls' meet the boys took the course, with nine teams once again competing. Des Moines Christian was the team champion with 57 points, while the Chargers came in second with 64 points. Senior Trevin Suhr paced the Chargers with a fifth place finish in a time of 17:03, while the Charger "pack" turned in a good performance. They finished in places thirteen through nineteen, with just fifteen seconds separating the first and sixth pack runners.

Justin Reinhart led the pack with a time of 18:01, good for thirteenth place. Others in the pack included Andrew Mahaffey (14th, 18:05), Kaden Thompson (15th, 18:07), Bo Arrasmith (17th, 18:15), Lance Bunde (18th, 18:15), and Noah Kading (19th,18:16).

Additional runners for the Chargers included Gavin Sloss, Jackson Sloss, Tyconder Ellis, Easton Stringham, Jarrett McClain, Tucker Carrroll, Carter Neff, and Justin Davis.
