ACGC Football Claims Six All State Players

Six members of the ACGC football team have been awarded with all state recognition, including three who were named to the class 1A first team as determined by the Iowa Sports Writers' Association.

Three Charger seniors were named to the first team including two on the offensive unit and one on the offensive special team. Fullback Gavin Cornelison and offensive lineman Cael Hoing both made the the first team offense, while Cayden Jensen was honored as a return specialist.

Named to the second team were senior offensive lineman Victor Gonzales and senior defensive utility player Reid Rumelhart. Sophomore Payton Jacobe made the third team defensive unit as a lineman.

The six all staters made significant contributions to the successful ACGC season during which the Chargers won nine games and lost two. Both of the losses were to 1A state champion Van Meter. The 9-2 record represents the best season since Guthrie Center and Adair/Casey began whole grade sharing (including athletics) in the fall of 2016.
