ACGC Grapplers Finish Twelfth at Tri-Center Invite

In what is likely the largest invitational tournament of the season, the ACGC wrestlers participated in the Tri-Center (Neola) Invitational on Saturday and finished in twelfth place among the eighteen teams participating. Nine Chargers wrestled, with five earning a place.

Tegan Slaybaugh's second place finish was the best for ACGC. The 113 pounder pinned four of his opponents en route to the title match where he lost to Eli Becerra of Missouri Vally by a 9-3 decision. Slaybaugh recorded two falls in 1:06 which were the fastest among the Chargers.

Others who placed included Gavin Sloss at 120 who place third, Cayden Jensen who placed fourth at 145, and Dawson Muller and Tanner Herskowitz who both claimed eighth place at 145 lbs and 160 lbs respectively.

"We wrestled tough this weekend. Some guys didn't get as many wins as they would've liked, but I still saw improvement from everyone," Charger coach Lane Rumelhart commented.

"Looking to build off this weekend for a strong finish in our final few weeks of the regular season," Rumelhart concluded.
