ACGC Track Girls Open at Jefferson

The first really warm day of spring (74 degrees) brought with it a wind that gusted to forty plus miles per hour. ACGC girls enjoyed the warmth and battled the breeze as the 2021 season got underway at the Green County Early Bird Meet in Jefferson yesterday.

Eight teams participated in the opener including ACGC, Greene County, Manson-Northwest Webster, Ogden, North Polk, St Edmond, South Hamilton, and Southeast Valley. No team scores was recorded.

The best individual finish for the Chargers was by Chloe Largent who took second place in the high jump with a jump of 5'2". Maddie Kelsey also claimed a place in a field event when she put the shot 37 feet, 9 and a half inches which was good for a third place finish.

Three Chargers placed in the top six in the individual running events. Two of those places were in the 800 meters where Rylee Sloss took fourth in a time of 2:42.55, and EmmaKay McClain claimed fifth with a time of 2:48.56. Sloss also claimed a place in the 1500 meter run, as she finished third with a time of 5:40.36. Kiersten Knobbe finished 6th in the 3000 meters with a time of 14:39.78.

ACGC was able to grab a top six place in six of the seven relay events, including the 800 meter relay, the 1600 relay, the 3200 relay, the shuttle hurdles, and two medleys--the 800 and 1600. Names of individuals who ran in relay events were not available when this item was posted.
