ACGC VB Goes 3-3 at Griswold Tournament

The ACGC volleyball team experienced the sweetness of victory for the first time this season at the Griswold Invitational on Saturday, as the team split its six matches. The Chargers picked up wins over IKM-Manning, Griswold, and Denison-Schleswig.

The Chargers opened play versus IKM-M and topped the Wolves by a 2-1 score., with set scores being 21-14, 18-21, and 15-5. That was followed up with a 2-1 loss to Southwest Valley (Corning), 17-21, 21-16, and 12-15.

The team bounced back to win over Denison-Schleswig by set scores of 21-17 and 21-16 and also topped host Griswold 21-7 and 21-14. That win was followed by losses to both AHSTW (Avoca), 15-21 and 14-21, and to Riverside 9-21, 21-18, and 6-15.

"We played much better today, but six games is a lot on one day, and the girls got mentally worn out I think,' Charger coach Jen Policky said following the tournament.

"We played the two best teams last, so it was a hard way to end what really was a pretty decent day," Policky concluded. The three and three split gives the Chargers a 3-7 season record with a return to conference play slated for Tuesday at Earlham.

The Charger Invitational will be played this Saturday, September18 with the action scheduled to begin at 9 AM.
