ACGC VB Picks Up Ninth Win at Baxter
The ACGC volleyball team went over the .500 mark when it defeated Baxter in straight sets last Tuesday night. The match was added to the schedule to avoid a ten day lay off for the Chargers. The win improves the team's season record to 9 wins and 8 losses.
The Chargers struggled with their serving in the initial set that allowed allowed the Bolts to stay close in the early gong. Once that was remedied ACGC pulled out a 25-20 win. Things picked up in sets two and three, as the Chargers managed a 3-0 shutout over the Bolts with 25-15 and 25-7 wins in the last two sets.
This observer speculates that the hour and forty five minute drive to Baxter may have been a factor in the early sluggishness for the visitors. "We were a little sloppy at first, but cleaned it up a bit," Charger coach Jen Policky commented. "We finally got into our groove during the second set and really dominated the third set. I'm very excited for the rest of the season."
