ACGC Wrestlers Win Two of Three at Woodbine Duals

The ACGC wrestlers edged closer to the .500 mark in dual competition on Thursday as the team won two of three matched on Thursday in Woodbine. The Chargers defeated Tri Center of Neola, 48-11, and host Woodbine, 52-4. Riverside of Oakland defeated the Chargers, 57-18.

The Chargers wrestled a total of fifteen matches on the day, winning seven and losing eight. Tegan Slaybaugh won both of his contested matches, as he threw Taylor Conn of Tri-Center at 113 pounds in 1:04 and duplicated the feat when he pinned Kellen Oliver of Riverside in 3:01.

Dawson Muller also won both of his matches by fall when he pinned Tony Kuker of Woodbine in 1:30 at 160 lbs and Justin Wilson of Riverside in 1:59 at 170.

"Woodbine and Tri Center did not have full lineups, but we still won all but two matches with both of those duals," Charger coach Lane Rumelhart said regarding the meet. "Riverside had a more experienced lineup and we had a few guys out do to sickness, so we weren't able to match up as well as I would have liked. Slaybaugh scored lots of points the whole night and Muller went undefeated on the night."

The Carroll Kuemper duals scheduled for Saturday were cancelled due to the inclement weather.
