Charger Girls' T&F Team Has Final Tune Up for State Qualifier

ACGC girls' track and field coach Colin Shawgo is a graduate of Nevada High School. On Monday he took his team to run in a meet at his alma mater where the Chargers had their final tune up for the state qualifying meet which will be held in Treynor on Thursday.

The Chargers faced some quality competition at the Nevada meet and placed sixth out of the eight teams participating. Nevada won the meet wth 150 points, while ACGC was sixth with 79 points. Six additional points would have given the Charger team a third place finish.

There were several highlights for the Chargers including two first place finishes by distance runner Rylee Sloss and a win in the high jump for Chloe Largent. Sloss won both the 1500 and 3000 meter runs with times of 5:22.17 in the 1500 and 11:29.96 in the 3000. Largent continued her winning ways in the high jump with a jump of 5'2".

EmmaKay McClain suffered a rare defeat in the 400 hurdles when she finished second in her specialty, falling to Lizzie Garber of Beamon-Conrad. McClain ran the event in 1:12.59, while Garber was clocked in 1:10.72. The only other second place garnered by ACGC was by the 1600 medley relay.
