Charger Golfers Win Pleasantville Quadrangular

The ACGC boys' golf team opened the season on a positive note as the team took the top spot in a WCAC quadrangular meet on Monday. The team had the low score of 180 to defeat teams from host Pleasantville, Madrid and West Central Valley.

Gunnar Larsen led the Chargers with a 39 over the nine holes played. Other ACGC scores that were included in the team total were Noah Wheatley's 41, a 50 by Jaden Forsythe, and Bo Arrasmith's 50.

Eli Kading and Seth Danker rounded out the Charger squad yesterday, with Kading carding a 53 and Danker a 55.

Team totals were as follows: ACGC 180, Pleasantville 193, Madrid 232, and West Central Valley 276.

"We captured the win in our first conference outing," Charger coach Lori McGivney said following the event. "Gunnar Larsen was runner up medalist and Nolan Wheatley had a super round, finishing with a forty one. Kudos to our underclassmen, Janden Forsythe and Bo Arrasmith who shot a pair of fifties."

McGivney's squad consists of a dozen players including seniors Danker, Kading, Larsen, Wheatley, and Cale Rowley. Noah Smith is the lone junior and Arrasmith the only freshman. Sophomores include Trever Derry, Jaden Forsythe, Keitn Kinney, Konnr Kinney, and Wyatt Rudy.

"It is nice to have four returning senior letter winners to lead the team with experience," McGivney commented. "Seth is recovering from knee surgery and with healing he'll find his game has matured. Eli and Gunnar are showing longer drives and better course management, and Nolan is working to develop more consistency. Our fifth senior, Cale, is new to the team and is working to improve his drive and mid game."

Coach McGivney also mentioned that there are no girls out for golf this year--the first time she remembers that to be the case.

The boys will travel to the Manning-Manilla course this Saturday, April 10 for the IKM-Manning Invitational. The competition is scheduled to begin at 9 AM.
