Chargers' CC Boys First, Girls Second at ACGC Meet
The ACGC country teams turned in good performances at the Charger Invitational on Saturday with the boys taking the title, and the girls finishing second behind Van Meter.
Van Meter took the girls' crown with 32 team points while ACGC had 43 points. The Kelly twins paced the Van Meter team and finished first and second among the thirty eight girls participating.
Ava Campbell led the ACGC runners when she finished fifth with a time of 23:02 over the 5K course. Campbell just edged out teammate Hayden Coffman who was also timed in 23:02. Freshman Adalyn Benson also finished in the top ten when she claimed the number ten spot with a time of 23:31.
Other runners figuring in the Chargers' team score included Katelyn Schafer (15th, 25:59) who claimed fifteenth place and Jayla Hoover who was sixteenth just one second behind Schafer.
Chargers who also competed, but did not figure in the team score included Paige Van Meter (17th, 25:39), and Emmarae Ellis (26th, 27:59).
Following the girls' race the Charger boys took to the course and won their third race of the season in five tries, edging out the Norwalk JV by a score of 29-32. Trevin Suhr continued his consistency as the Charger senior took the top spot in a time of 17:08. Justin Reinhart and
Andrew Mahaffey claimed third and fourth with times of 18:29 and 18:35 respectively.
Kaden Thompson was fourth among Charger runners with a time of 18:53 which was good for ninth place. Rounding out the top five who figured in the team score was Lance Bunde with a time of 19:08, good for 12th place.
Noah Kading (13th, 19:10) and Gavin Sloss (14th, 19:14) were also among the seven designated ACGC runners who were entitled to figure in the team scoring if they finished among the top five Charger runners.
Also running for ACGC were Bo Arrasmith (19:15), Jackson Sloss (20:35), Tyconder Ellis (21:04), Easton Stringham (21:44), Tucker Carroll (22:07) Jarrett McClain (22:11), Justin Davis (23:24, and Hogan Grubbs (26:17).
Girls' team scores: Van Meter 32, ACGC 49, Perry 77, WCV 82 CAM 135
Boys team scores: ACGC 29, Norwald JV 32, Perry 89, Van meter 96, CAM 141
