Chargers' CC Boys Win at So. Hamilton; Girls Second

With ACGC senior Trevin Suhr literally leading the way, the ACGC boys' cross country team took first place at the South Hamilton Invitational yesterday. Trevin, who is ranked fourth in class 1A, bested the field of one hundred and six runners with a time of 16:45 over the 5K course at the Jewell Golf and County Club.

The Chargers scored 39 points to lead the eight team field and placed all of its scoring runners in the top twelve. Justin Reinhart took seventh place with a time of 17:54, while Andrew Mayaffey was right behind in eighth place with a time of 17:56.

Three Charger runners came in with the exact same times, with Lance Bunde (11th,), Noah Kading (12th), and Kaden Thompson (13th) all running a time of 18:09. Gavin Sloss also figured in the team score when he took 14th place with a time of 18:18.

Nine other ACGC runners participated but did not figure in the scoring. Bo Arrasmith completed the course in 18:19, good for 15th place and just one second behind Sloss. Other Chargers and their times were Zander Kenyon (19:40). Jackson Sloss (20:01), Tyconder Ellis (20:06), Easton Stringham (20:23), Tucker Carroll (20:48), Jarrett McClain (20:56), Carter Neff (21:58), and Justin Davis (22:57).

The ACGC girls' 78 points took second place behind Roland-Story's 45. Charger runner Ava Campbell made the best showing for ACGC with a 5th place finish in a time of 21:22. Hayden Coffman finished in 8th with a time of 22:00. Others who figured in the team's score were Adalyn Benson (11th, 22:30), Kiersten Knobbe (25th, 23:40), Paige Van Meter (29th, 24:01), Jayla Hoover (32nd (24:22), and Katelyn Schafer (33rd, 24:24). Also running for ACGC were Emmarae Ellis (25:59) and Mia Ocheltree (28:41)

"At our meet in Jewell the girls got second behind 2A ranked Roland-Story and our boys were champions," ACGC coach Colin Shawgo commented following the meet. "The girls had two junior varsity medalists and three varsity medalists.

"The boys walked away with six JV and five varsity medals. Lots of hardware for the Chargers at the last regular meet of the season."

The WCAC meet will be next Thursday at Panorama, and the state qualifying meet will be on October 21.
