Chargers' VB Drops Two WCAC Matches
Updated: Sep 7, 2021
The ACGC volleyball team traveled to Des Moines Christian on Tuesday to face DMC and Woodward-Granger in a triangular WCAC matchup. The Chargers lost both matches and find themselves with an 0-3 record in conference play.
Prohibitive conference favorite DMC improved its record to 3-0 with a 25-11,25-12, 25-13 win over the Chargers in the first match of the evening. The Chargers never really challenged the Lions, as the hosts never trailed in any of the three sets.
The Chargers were more competitive in the match with Woodward-Granger, winning the first and third sets by 25-15 and and 25-23 scores. The Hawks took the second and fourth sets 25-15 and 25-20 before clinching the match win by a 15-9 score in the final set.
ACGC was without the services of senior hitter Chloe Largent as she continues to deal with a high ankle sprain.
"We had two girls, Emerson Van Meter, and Jenna Rowley, playing that have never played varsity before," Charger mentor Jen Policky commented. " We were real proud of them for stepping up to the challenge. We leaned a lot and we are going to keep building from there.
"We also expect Chloe to the back for Tuesday's game and moving forward," Policky concluded.
The team hosted Audubon on Tuesday and will participate in the Griswold tournament on Saturday.
