Cornelison, Gonzales Make DM Register All State Team

Post season honors keep coming for members of the 2021 ACGC football team, as two Chargers were named to the Des Moines Register's class 1A all state team. Seniors Gavin Cornelison and Victor Gonzales were selected as a running back and offensive lineman respectively on the eleven player first team offense as determined by the Register's sports writers.

According to the Register article, "The teams were picked based on in-season production, Register and Iowa City Press-Citizen staff observations, and consultations with more than 250 Iowa high school coaches." The selections were published in Sunday's Register.

Cornelison led class 1A with 34 touchdowns and was second in the class in rushing with 1979 yards for the season. Gonzales anchored the Charger's offensive line that opened the way for Cornelison and other Charger running backs to pile up the yards.
