Largent Places Fourth in High Jump; Wardyn Competes Twice

Updated: May 22, 2021

Less than ideal weather conditions greeted the participants in the Friday session of the coed state track meet in Des Moines, as a heavy downpour occurred just before the competition got underway. Two Chargers competed today, with Clayton Wardyn and Chloe Largent representing ACGC high school.

Waydyn, who has gone as high as 6'2" in the high jump, had a best jump of 5'9" today, giving him a 19th place finish. Following his high jump competition, the Charger senior prepared for the 110 hurdle event which he ran in :15.77, good for 11th place out of the twenty four hurdlers. He missed qualifying for the finals by six one hundredths of a second.

Meanwhile, Largent added to the Charger point total by placing fourth in the high jump. The lanky junior went 5'2" to pick up five points and bring the Charger point total to six--one for the boys from Thursday competition and five for the girls.

The last opportunity for ACGC to pick up additional points will be in the hands of Trevin Suhr who will compete tomorrow in both the 800 meter and 1600 meter runs.
