Three Chargers Named to All-State Football Teams

The accolades keep coming for Charger football players as three have been named to the Iowa Print Sports Writers Association all-state teams.

A trio of ACGC juniors were selected during a virtual meeting of the sportswriters group held on November 22. Cayden Jensen was chosen for the first team as a return specialist, linebaker Gavin Cornelison was named to the second team, and Victor Gonzalez was picked as a third team offensive lineman.

Jensen was second in class 1A kickoff return average, coming up with 26.3 yards per return. He also tied for second in kickoff returns for touchdowns (1) and in total kickoff return yards with 342. In addition he led the Charger defense with 48.5 tackles that included 30 solo tackles.

Cornelison came up with 44.5 tackles, 23 of which were solo. Cornelison also led the Charger rushing offense with 918 yards.

As an offensive linemen Gonzales was responsible for opening the holes for the likes of Cornelison to put up some impressive numbers.

With three all-staters returning for next fall, it should make for an interesting 2021 season.
