Seth Danker, ACGC's lone qualifier to the state wrestling meet, was eliminated from place contention as he lost his first two matches at Well Fargo Arena last evening. The 106 pound freshman fell to Mason Dye of Sigourney-Keota by major decision, 15-3, in his first match and lost by fall to Brooks Meyer of Denver in 0:50 in the first round of consolation matches.
Despite the losses, Danker gained valuable experience in his first trip to "The Well" as a varsity wrestler. Danker's father, head ACGC wrestling coach Shawn Danker, was upbeat following Seth's competition. "I think this was a great learning experience. Some kids never get this opportunity and he got to state as a freshman. He is not happy right now, but hopefully this will drive him to come back bigger and stronger in years to come. As a whole our team helped push each other all year long, and helped Seth reach his goal. I also want to thank Charger fans for their support during the entire season."
Given the fact that this year's team was a young squad, Charger wrestlers and fans alike can be optimistic about the program's future
