The All-District football teams for district number eight in class 1A have been announced, and the ACGC Chargers had three first teamers and four others recognized on the second team or receiving honorable mention. Ben Kingery, Sam Madsen, and Quynton Younker all made the first unit, with Kingery and Madsen making it on offense and Younker landing on the first defensive unit. Making second team on offense was Gabe Rowley, with Lucas Marsh and Gage Buttler making the second defensive team. Bryce Littler was awarded honorable mention status as the Charger quarterback.
Seniors Kingery and Rowley were the workhorses in the Charger wishbone attack, with Kingery rushing for 610 yards (5.5 yards per carry) in district play, good enough to place him fourth among all running backs in the district. Rowley was the eighth leading rusher in the district with 333 yards (6.1 yards per carry).
Two Charger juniors were selected to the first team--one on offense and one on defense. Sam Madsen was awarded first team honors as an offensive lineman, working in the trenches to open holes for the ACGC running backs. Quenton "Q" Younker was named to the first defensive unit for closing the holes of opponents' offensive lines. Younker had 20.5 tackles in district pay.
A pair of sophomores were picked for the second team--both on defense. Lucas Marsh netted 15 tackles and Gage Buttler had 8.5. Marsh's three sacks of quarterbacks placed him second among all district defensive lineman.
Junior Bryce Littler ran the Charger wishbone offense at quarterback and was awarded honorable mention status by district coaches. Littler ran for 146 yards on 31 carries.
The Chargers finished the season with a 3-6 recored overall and 2-3 in district play. Charger coaches and fans are optimistic about next season with five all-district players returning and others ready to step in. Go Chargers!
